Virtual Information Sessions

Explore pharmacy and all that the Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC) - the state's only comprehensive academic health science center - has to offer by joining us for our interactive virtual information sessions!

Whether you're just beginning to explore the pharmacy profession or are preparing to submit your application, these webinars are a great way to learn more about the field, receive tailored advice, and explore your options. 

All sessions for Fall 2026 will be from 6:00 - 7:00 PM:

Pharmacy Career Pathways Certificate Program

Created to assist students as they explore the multiple career paths of the pharmacy profession, the Pharmacy Career Path Certificate program can help you gauge how your unique interests and values can align with pharmacy. The program is self-paced, online, and complimentary for all prospective students.

  • Forge connections with pharmacists by conducting interviews
  • Receive a certificate to enhance your pharmacy school application

Shadow a Pharmacist or Student

Shadowing opportunities are offered Monday - Friday and are based on availability of pharmacists and/or class schedule. In order to shadow a pharmacist, you must:

  • Provide health documentation to include current TB (within three months of your visit), immunization records, Covid-19 vaccination record, and flu vaccine.
  • Allow a month's notice before your anticipated shadow date.
  • Wear professional business attire and act in a professional manner.

If you're interested in either shadowing opportunity, please email Morgan Wing. In the email, please include which shadowing opportunity you are interested in and what date(s) you are available to shadow.

Student Mentors for Future Pharmacists (SMFP)

SMFP is a virtual program that aims to mentor high school and college students as they explore the vast career opportunities within pharmacy.

 What to Expect:

  • Guided Mentorship: Dedicated mentors who are current MUSC College of Pharmacy students. Your mentor will share invaluable insights and advice from their own experience pursuing pharmacy.
  • Engaging Seminars/Workshops: Think admissions tips, networking, simulations, and more. You'll gain the knowledge needed to stand out when applying to a graduate-level health professions program. 
Eligibility:
  • High school or college-aged students
  • An interest in pharmacy or a willingness to explore the field
  • Commitment to participating in virtual program sessions

Pharmacy Readiness Engagement Program (PREP)

This one-day, in-person event is designed to prepare prospective students for a career path in pharmacy. 

What to Expect: 
  • Interact with pharmacists in a wide variety of professions
  • Engage with nationally recognized faculty, both clinicians and researchers
  • Experiment in our compounding lab
  • Tour the MUSC campus

  • Gain helpful information and tips regarding our interview process, including mock admission interview practice   

The 2026 MUSC College of Pharmacy PREP program took place on June 26. Information for Summer 2027 PREP will be available in Spring 2027. 

PharmDamentals

This one-day, in-person event is designed to engage high school students interested in healthcare. The program will provide a fundamental understanding of the pharmacy profession and introduce students to the many career options available.

What to Expect: 
  • Interact with pharmacists in a wide variety of professions
  • Engage with MUSC College of Pharmacy students
  • Tour the MUSC campus and Simulation Center
  • Gain knowledge about the field through pharmacy trivia

The 2026 MUSC College of Pharmacy PharmDamentals program took place on July 24. Information for Summer 2027 PharmDamentals will be available in Spring 2027.
