Incoming Students

Welcome Class of 2029

Everyone in the MUSC pharmacy community is excited to welcome you into our ranks. As a full-time student, you will be able to see and feel clearly why we talk about MUSC pharmacy like a family. You've made a great choice.

We want you to feel at home right away, which includes facilitating your adjustment into the life of a full-time pharmacy student. The best plan is to come prepared.

Before You Arrive

There are valuable resources about parking, ID badges and other frequently asked questions on our Incoming Student page. If you have any questions please contact Jenny Bagg, Admissions Manager, directly at 843-792-3115 or baggjs@musc.edu

Student Resources

Academic Calendar

The MUSC Academic Calendar and the Extended College of Pharmacy Calendar provide information on important dates throughout the academic year. This calendar does not include all events and functions that pharmacy students are required to attend.

Financial Aid

The MUSC Office of Student Financial Aid Services is located at 45 Courtenay Drive, Harper Student Center, 3rd floor. Please review the Frequently Asked Questions and contact the College of Pharmacy's counselor, Ms. Nora Siwarski, with any questions 843-792-3669 or siwarski@musc.edu.

Course Registration

Incoming P1 students are automatically registered for all courses and assigned a lab section.

Technology Requirements

The MUSC College of Pharmacy requires incoming P1 students to begin classes equipped with a laptop or notebook computer. Please review the Technology Requirements (PDF) for more information.

ID Badges

As an incoming student, you will be required to upload and submit a photo (PDF) for your ID badge. Uploading a photo for your ID badge will require your MUSC Net ID credentials, which will be assigned approximately 48 hours after you pay your seat fee deposit online.

Student Housing

MUSC Student Housing has several updated features including a user-friendly layout of listings, ability to map properties, view floorplans, and see amenities. This service is exclusively for MUSC students to view listings. The new website also provides an improved roommate database full of photos, roommate preferences, likes/dislikes, and preferred amenities.

Parking

Incoming students are able to secure parking once ID badges are distributed at orientation, the week prior to the start of classes. MUSC Parking Management offers both on-campus and off-campus reserved parking for students for a flat fee each semester. Parking is assigned on a first come, first serve basis and current students receive priority over incoming students. All incoming students will be provided with a temporary parking pass for orientation.

Student Health Requirements

All incoming students are required to comply with MUSC Student Health Services (PDF) immunization requirements. The 2025 - 2026 Student Health Packet will be distributed via email to all incoming students by Student Health Services in June.

All full time MUSC students are required to carry health insurance. Students have the option of continuing coverage under their parents or spouse's policy, purchasing a private policy, or enrolling in the student insurance plan. Student Health Services provides answers to the most frequently asked questions about the MUSC Student Health Insurance Plan.

If you still have questions after reading the directions and the pre-matriculation forms carefully, please email your questions to SHSimmunizations@musc.edu or call 843-792-3664.

Pharmacy Intern Certificate

Every student must obtain their pharmacy intern certificate to earn intern hours and to complete Introductory Pharmacy Practice Experiences (IPPEs) and Advanced Pharmacy Practice Experiences (APPEs). Students must earn a minimum of 200 intern hours while enrolled in the PharmD program. Students can begin earning intern hours starting 90 days prior to the 1st day of class, or May 18, 2025. More information on Practical Experience Requirements for Pharmacy Interns - in state (PDF) and Practical Experience Requirements for Pharmacy Interns - out of state (PDF) can be found on the South Carolina Board of Pharmacy website

You must provide a final acceptance letter when you submit your application to the South Carolina Board of Pharmacy, and this can be obtained from the Dean’s office through Jenny Bagg. To receive your final acceptance letter, we must have received your final transcripts showing no deficiencies in your prerequisite coursework. When your final transcripts are received by Ms. Goodwin in the Enrollment Office, she will notify you via email. You must then request your letter from Jenny Bagg. Letters are not automatically issued because the date has to be current at the time of application. Final acceptance letters can be issued starting May 1, 2025 and are sent via email.

All students must obtain their intern certificate no later than Friday, August 8. Students will be shown how to upload a copy of their intern certificate into their electronic portfolio during orientation. For questions pertaining to the intern certificate application, please contact the South Carolina Board of Pharmacy directly at 803-896-4700.
