MUSC pharmacy at the ASHP 2025 Midyear Clinical Meeting

March 04, 2026

If you weren’t there, you’ll never know exactly what happened at the South Carolina Pharmacy Reception in December. Because, of course, what happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas.

But this much was clear: it was extraordinarily successful for the MUSC College of Pharmacy!

More than 270 South Carolina pharmacists, pharmacy students, residents and faculty stopped by the reception at the Las Vegas Hard Rock Café as part of their experience of the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists (ASHP) 2025 Midyear Clinical Meeting.

The reception was a nice return for the event sponsors, which included McLeod Health, MUSC Health, MUSC College of Pharmacy, Presbyterian College, Prisma Health, Self Regional Healthcare, South Carolina Society of Health-System Pharmacists, Spartanburg Regional Healthcare System and the University of South Carolina College of Pharmacy.

Many MUSC pharmacy students, faculty and alumni participated in the Midyear Clinical Meeting, the world’s single largest gathering of pharmacists. Clinical pharmacists, pharmacy services and pharmacy residency directors, residents, students, technicians, post-grads, purchasing professionals and many others swell the ranks of participants.

“The meeting provides a great opportunity for us to see how we can best prepare our students, particularly those interested in residencies,” said Philip D. Hall, dean of MUSC College of Pharmacy. “It also helps us get a measure of what other schools are doing.”

MUSC pharmacy alumni presentation highlights included alumnus U.S. Army Col. Mike Heath, a trailblazer in federal pharmacy, helping honor retiring ASHP CEO Paul Abramoqitz during the W. Mike Heath ASHP Federal Forum, and MUSC pharmacy alumna Jessica Davis of the Atrium Health Levine Cancer Center speaking during her presentation on immune checkpoint inhibitor oncologic emergencies.
