Pharmacy Intern Certificate

Every student must obtain their pharmacy intern certificate to earn intern hours and to complete Introductory Pharmacy Practice Experiences (IPPEs) and Advanced Pharmacy Practice Experiences (APPEs). Students must earn a minimum of 200 intern hours while enrolled in the PharmD program. Students can begin earning intern hours starting 90 days prior to the 1st day of class, or May 13, 2024. More information on Practical Experience Requirements for Pharmacy Interns - in state (PDF) and Practical Experience Requirements for Pharmacy Interns - out of state (PDF)  can be found on the South Carolina Board of Pharmacy website

You must provide a final acceptance letter when you submit your application to the South Carolina Board of Pharmacy, and this can be obtained from the Dean’s office through Jenny Bagg. To receive your final acceptance letter, we must have received your final transcripts showing no deficiencies in your prerequisite coursework. When your final transcripts are received by Ms. Goodwin in the Enrollment Office, she will notify you via email. You must then request your letter from Jenny Bagg. Letters are not automatically issued because the date has to be current at the time of application. Final acceptance letters can be issued starting May 1, 2024 and are sent via email.

All students must obtain their intern certificate no later than Friday, August 9. Students will be shown how to upload a copy of their intern certificate into their electronic portfolio during orientation. For questions pertaining to the intern certificate application, please contact the South Carolina Board of Pharmacy directly at 803-896-4700.
