Anthony DeClue ’16, director of clinical services at the MUSC College of Pharmacy Family Medicine Pharmacy, was recently accepted into a program that allows him – and other participating pharmacists – to offer additional services to patients.

The Medication Management Therapy (MTM) and Group Lifestyle Coaching (GLC) program has benefits for both pharmacists and patients. Patients on at least three chronic medications and with certain diagnoses (like diabetes) qualify for a one-hour MTM session and four hours of group lifestyle coaching.

Pharmacists, who can register for the program through the South Carolina Pharmacy Association (SCPhA) website, earn $75/MTM session and $40/hour per patient for lifestyle coaching.

The program is supported by grants and administered through the SCPhA and the South Carolina Department of Health and Environmental Control (DHEC).

“It’s a great way to help patients improve their health at no extra cost to them and get compensated without having to go through the hassle of insurance reimbursement,” DeClue said. “This program is another milestone in the long tradition of Family Medicine Pharmacy making the patient the top priority.”
