New mascot Phil the Pill celebrates American Pharmacist Month on campus and around S.C.

There is a new face of MUSC pharmacy.

Faster than the San Diego Chicken. More powerful than Left Shark. Able to leap tall test tubes in a single bound. It’s … Phil the Pill!

The college has Phil the Pill thanks to the generosity of Kelly and Kandi Hunt, both Class of 1995, who “raised” Phil from a tiny caplet to the 6-foot tall bow tie-sporting pill bottle that served as a mascot for Kelly’s Family Pharmacy. Earlier this year, the Hunts donated Phil the Pill to the college, which will use him in a variety of ways to celebrate pharmacy and the MUSC pharmacy experience.

Now proudly bearing the MUSC logo and College of Pharmacy vision statement as dosage instructions, he has been named the college’s official Chief Dispenser of Fun.

He was introduced in person to MUSC pharmacy alumni at events celebrating October as Pharmacists Month, including Greenville on Oct. 17, Columbia on Oct. 24, and Charleston on Oct. 29, and special visits around campus.
