September 2020 updates from MUSC College of Pharmacy Dean Philip Hall

One of my favorites events each year is the MUSC College of Pharmacy Scholarship Ceremony (Watch the recording!). It celebrates the achievements of our students and inspires them with the achievements of our alumni. It also affirms and strengthens the ties between members of the MUSC pharmacy family. These days, having a sense of place and an opportunity to feel fellowship is precious.

As we announced the scholarship winners on a Zoom call that had an attendance equal to past years’ in-person events, we were also celebrating the incredible diversity of MUSC pharmacy. Our scholarship donors have all found success on very different career paths. Our scholarship recipients all come very different backgrounds.

What they all share is our identity. We are MUSC pharmacy.

In October, when the country celebrates the profession during American Pharmacists’ Month, we are going to feature the people behind “We are MUSC pharmacy” and celebrate some of the many facets of our unique and wonderful gem. We will celebrate their careers, their innovations, their patients, their research, their impact. Often, our students are amazed at some of the things made possible by an MUSC pharmacy education and it opens their eyes to a limitless world.

The “We are MUSC pharmacy” campaign will include Zoom interviews with alumni and friends as well as highlights on social media and our blog. We will feature MUSC pharmacy family members who have:

• Rewarding careers.
• Unusual or nontraditional career paths.
• Advice for students.
• Interesting hobbies or backgrounds.
• Stories about their pharmacy journey.
