MUSC pharmacy alumni and donors are the College’s ambassadors and stakeholders, representing and investing in the impact of an MUSC pharmacy education. Alumni and donors are the genes of the College, reflecting its past and creating its future.

The MUSC College of Pharmacy celebrates the final week of its American Pharmacists Month “We are MUSC Pharmacy” campaign by visiting with a few of these vital people and seeing what an MUSC pharmacy degree can do.

Mike CorvinoAndrew FarielloMonday, October 26, the #weareMUSCpharmacy campaign will step into yet another social media platform at the hands of Mike Corvino ’15. In addition to serving as clinical pharmacist with Fetter Health Care Network and teacher for Charleston Southern University’s Physician Assistant Program, Corvino is the founder and host of the podcast CorConsult Rx: Evidence-based Medicine and Pharmacy. He’ll have a high-octane guest during his turn behind the wheel of #weareMUSCpharmacy as he interviews Andrew Fariello ’95, vice president of Global Medical Affairs and head of Medical Excellence Oncology for AstraZeneca.

Amelia Furbish ’20

Amelia FurbishOn Tuesday, October 27, Amelia Furbish ’20 will take over the College’s Instagram account. A Ph.D. student in drug discovery and biomedical sciences, Furbish is researching synthesis of enzyme inhibitors targeting the polyamine pathway and investigating the role these compounds may play in ameliorating neuronal injury. She also makes drug discovery fun and entertaining – her Instagram account happypillsrx has some 3,500 followers who enjoy a mix of posts about chemical formulae, Pokemon, and happy pill-branded items like throw blankets, duvet covers, masks, coasters, laptop sleeves and other merchandise.

Joanna Simmons Lewis ’07

Joanna LewisOn Wednesday, October 28, Joanna Simmons Lewis ’07, pharmacist in regulatory/compliance, wellness pharmacist and founder of The Pharmacist’s Guide on Instagram, will take over the College’s Instagram account. She went through the Pharm.D./MBA concurrent degree program at MUSC and The Citadel and now manages the 340B program at Baptist Health. She established The Pharmacist’s Guide to create a platform promoting wellness in the pharmacy industry.

Jennifer Means Stephens ’94

Jenny StephensOn Thursday, October 29, the College blog will feature Jennifer Means Stephens ’94, managing partner of U.S. Operations of Pharmerit. The company was founded in 2000 to foster creative collaboration among researchers dedicated to uncovering and communicating the value of healthcare interventions, and is now part of the OPEN Health Group with more than 700 people in 15 offices across six countries including the United States, United Kingdom, The Netherlands, Germany, India, and China. As managing partner, she focuses on market assessments, economic modeling, design and implementation of prospective studies, education programs, and much more.

Shea Manigo ’07

Shea ManigoOn Friday, October 30, the “We are MUSC Pharmacy” campaign celebrating American Pharmacists Month will wrap up on a high note with a Pharmacy Friday featuring Shea Manigo ’07, division vice president at CVS Health. MUSC College of Pharmacy Dean Philip Hall will host the noon conversation that will be livestreamed on the College’s YouTube channel. As division vice president for CVS Health, Manigo is in charge of leadership development and engagement for 1,300 CVS Pharmacy locations. The 2018 White Coat Ceremony speaker at the MUSC College of Pharmacy, she has been inspired and uplifted by the hearts and commitment of her colleagues dealing with the COVID-19 crisis.
