Incoming PLS president Anthony DeClue is already pretty familiar with his cabinet. At the 2022 Phi Lambda Sigma (PLS) House of Delegates meeting, held virtually on April 23, third-year MUSC pharmacy students Amanda Everett and Hillary Reeves were elected to serve on the 2022-2023 PLS Executive Committee, which MUSC faculty member and alumnus DeClue will lead.

Everett was elected speaker of the house of the pharmacy leadership society, and Reeves was elected as a member-at-large.

The National Executive Committee consists of current pharmacy students and recent graduates who were PLS members. The offices of President-Elect, Member-At-Large (2), and Speaker of the House are elected annually. The members-at-large and the speaker of the house serve one year terms.

The students spoke at a Meet the Candidates session on April 21 for chapter delegates and PLS members to learn a little more about them. They also provided statements of intent, CVs, and the below profiles:

Amanda Everett ’23

Pre-Pharmacy: Salisbury University, Accelerated Pre-Pharmacy Track

Fun Fact: I live in Charleston SC and my favorite hobby is paddleboarding! I love to paddle alongside the dolphins in the creeks near my house!

What encouraged you to run for an NEC Position?    I was encouraged to run for National Executive Counsel for PLS because I am passionate about leadership and want to get more involved at a national level! Being a potential member of the NEC for PLS excites me and I look forward to potentially working with such an astute team!

Hillary Reeves ’23

Pre-Pharmacy: Clemson University, B.S. Biology

Fun Fact: I’m learning Spanish and would one day love to be a certified medical translator!

What encouraged you to run for an NEC Position?  Developing leaders in our profession is vital when it comes to advocating for the advancement of pharmacy and I want the future of pharmacy to be filled with fearless leaders who refuse to back down from any challenge our profession may face. PLS has also helped me to step out of my comfort zone and I want to do that for others.
