Williams-Lowe to head MUSC pharmacy services

Dr. Marva Williams-Lowe has been appointed the Chief Pharmacy Officer for MUSC Health and Associate Dean, Clinical Affairs in the MUSC College of Pharmacy, the college and the Medical University of South Carolina Hospital Authority (MUHA) announced today.

Dr. Williams-Lowe joins MUSC after 29 years at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Health (D-HH) System, including most recently serving as their Senior Director for Hospital & Clinic Pharmacy Operations.

Dr. Williams-Lowe has the background, leadership skills, and vision to ensure that pharmacy services across the enterprise continues to be of the highest caliber.”

During her tenure at D-HH, Dr. Williams-Lowe served in various leadership roles that included oversight for hospital and clinic pharmacy operations, Ambulatory Surgery Centers, the National Cancer Institute designated Norris Cotton Cancer Center sites in Lebanon, New Hampshire, and St. Johnsbury, Vermont and the development and expansion of many pharmacy services and pharmacist care models.

At MUSC, her role will include overseeing all pharmacy services in the MUSC Health System.  In addition, she’ll serve as Associate Dean for Clinical Affairs in the College of Pharmacy; many of the college’s faculty have appointments in MUHA pharmacy services, many students complete rotations there, and the units collaborate on MUSC’s award-winning residency program.

Dr. Williams-Lowe received her Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy and her Doctor of Pharmacy degree from Massachusetts College of Pharmacy in Boston. She also completed a management certificate program at Boston University and a Master of Health Administration at Ohio University.  She is a 2017 Carol Emmott Fellow and in 2021, Dr. Williams-Lowe was named a Fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives.
