The College of Pharmacy was well-represented on Research Cores Day, held at MUSC’s James E. Clyburn Research Center on June 16. The event included presentations, a poster session, and tours.

The College of Pharmacy took center stage in the 2:35 p.m. time slot with a presentation by Yuri Peterson, associate professor of Drug Discovery and Biomedical Sciences (DDBS) and director of the Bioenergetics Profiling Core. He presented an overview of the expertise and services offered by the core.

The cores represented by DDBS researchers included:

  • the Drug Discovery and Nuclear Magnetic Resonance Cores (represented by Peterson, Pat Woster, chair of DDBS and SmartState® Endowed Chair in Drug Discovery, and 2022 Ph.D. graduate Catherine Mills, core assistant director)
  • the Bioenergetics Profiling Core (represented by Peterson and Gyda Beeson, associate director and core operations manager)
  • the Cell and Molecular Imaging Core (represented by John Lemasters, GlaxoSmithKline Distinguished Endowed Chair and SmartState® Endowed Chair of Drug Discovery)

MUSC’s Research Cores provide state-of-the-art expertise to support biomedical research in SC and beyond. Whether collaborating with researchers or providing technical services, MUSC Research Cores are essential to discovering what’s possible for patients.
