Their orientation started months ago; now it is time for the real thing.

The Class of 2026 was officially welcomed into the MUSC College of Pharmacy with the 2022 White Coat Ceremony, a ritual that included donning their new white coats and reciting the Pharmacists’ Oath.

The ceremony took place August 12 in the Drug Discovery Building on the Medical University of South Carolina campus. Bill and Lou Kennedy, the founder and owners of Nephron Pharmaceuticals, were the keynote speakers.

Classes started for the first-year pharmacy students on August 15. The Class of 2026 actually began orienting in mid-June with some virtual orientation sessions. On-campus orientation began August 7 with a social at The Alley.

A snapshot of Orientation Week activities includes:

  • Monday: Amazing Race, Student Organization intros, Wellness tour
  • Tuesday: Library, educational and information technology
  • Wednesday: Course coordinators, Honor Council, Career Mentorship Program, Happy Hour at Oast
  • Thursday: Leader Academy Workshop, team building
  • Friday: 2022 White Coat Ceremony

Orientation Week concluded with a student outing to the Charleston RiverDogs. The minor league baseball team must have been inspired by their attendance as Charleston beat Lynchburg 10-0 on MUSC Health Family Sunday.
