Phoenicia Miracle

What's in a name? A whole lot of history and a bright future when your name is Phoenicia Miracle.

Last month, Miracle joined the College of Pharmacy as director of development. Let's start with a bit of standard background:

  • She successfully ran Miracle Strategies, LLC for the past five years.
  • She has a 22-year career that includes healthcare philanthropy.
  • Prior to moving to Charleston, she served for seven years as vice president for the Memorial Health System Foundation in Savannah, Georgia.
  • In 2020-2021, she was named Rookie Rotarian by the Historical Charleston Rotary.

And now a dive into a bit of deep background:

  • The ancient Phoenicians were a prominent culture in the Mediterranean in the mid-12th century BC.
  • They developed the world's oldest verified alphabet and basically invented the color purple.
  • A miracle is "a surprising and welcome event that is not explicable by natural or scientific laws."

Her name badge alone is weighty with expectation. Fortunately, she is up to the task and has quickly found that the College of Pharmacy has many a powerful story to tell.

"The word “impressed” perfectly describes my first month on the job," she said. "Every night over dinner, I have a new story to share with my husband, a new impression seen, heard, or experienced while representing this institution."

She also joins the college at a propitious time for fundraising - after many years of dedicated effort and generous support from alumni, the college will soon be moving into a brand new facility. The building embodies the impact of philanthropy. With its construction, the development program can also expand or shift focus to new opportunities.

"I look forward to working with our donors to ensure their generosity’s outcomes are as impressive as the college they’re supporting!"
