On Friday, October 28, students from the various colleges at MUSC participated in a drug discovery simulation led by team members from Pfizer and hosted by the college's Industry Pharmacists Organization's (IPhO) local chapter.

The Pfizer 3D Program simulated the process of bringing a “molecule to market” with an indication for diabetes. Students were given specific roles ranging from pharmaceutical scientist, regulatory specialist, drug safety specialist, and marketing assessment specialist, and assigned to teams that represented their pharmaceutical company.

The students worked together to make important decisions about their product, considering time, value, safety, and budget restrictions, just like any pharmaceutical company would. Ultimately, one team produced a high value product to the market that surpassed the competition!
