Leadership society leads way in innovative fundraising

Score another first for the College of Pharmacy. Phi Lambda Sigma is MUSC’s very first student-led organization to launch a peer-to-peer fundraising page!

The sole goal of this campaign is to continue – and eventually increase – the number of PLS scholarships awarded each year to MUSC College of Pharmacy students. The newly christened “Phi Lambda Sigma Pharmacy Leadership Scholarship Fund” ensures 100 percent of all donations are restricted to the scholarship campaign of PLS.

This is an exciting time for the organization, which has been awarding an annual scholarship for years. However, this is their first endeavor – actually, any MUSC student organization’s first attempt – to expand their impact by inviting alumni and faculty who understand the mission of PLS to engage.

The Beta Chi chapter envisions establishing an endowed fund, which will forever provide at least two annual scholarships to pharmacy students of high moral and ethical character and who maintain at least a 3.0 GPA and demonstrate dedication, service and leadership in the advancement of pharmacy.

By maximizing technology to reach beyond the walls of the institution and outside stuffed email boxes, PLS leaders feel confident they can connect with graduates and professionals who value pharmacy leadership, and value the opportunity to support future pharmacy leaders, as well.
