The MUSC College of Pharmacy Black History Month Seminar will be at noon on Thursday, Feb. 23 in QF302B of the Michael P. Araneo Building on Calhoun Street.

The Speaker Panel includes Marva Williams Lowe of MUSC Health Pharmacy Services, Katina Richmond '02 of Careteam Plus, and Maurice Lee '04 of Moe Productions.

MUSC pharmacy students Ziporrah Williams and Makenzie Boyd will serve as hosts for this exciting event.

  • Dr. Marva Williams-Lowe of MUSC  

Marva Williams-Lowe has over 20 years of healthcare executive experience leading and transforming clinical and operational teams and implementing new pharmacy programs and practice models. She has served in ambulatory, retail and hospital pharmacy roles and most recently in regional and system administrative roles at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Health System. Dr. Williams-Lowe provided oversight for pharmacy hospital and clinic operations in NH and VT. She is currently the Chief Pharmacy Officer, System Administrative Officer for the Pharmacy ICCE (Integrated Center of Clinical Excellence) for MUSC and Senior Associate Dean, Clinical Affairs at the MUSC College of Pharmacy. She holds a Pharm.D. and B.S. in Pharmacy from the Massachusetts College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences in Boston and a Master of Health Administration from Ohio University, Athens. 

  • Dr. Katina Richmond '02 of Careteam Plus

Katina Richmond earned a B.S. in Biology from Emory University before coming to MUSC for her Pharm.D. After graduation she joined Walgreens as pharmacy manager until 2017, when she started as registered manager for a Walgreens specialty pharmacy. In 2020, she began her present assignment as director of pharmacy for Careteam Plus, Inc.  Created in 1993, the Conway, S.C.-based company is a leader in compassionate health care, offering a sliding fee scale for patients who qualify. She also serves as a consultant, both for her own business DIOMO, LLC, and for Rodan + Fields.

  • Dr. Maurice Lee '04 of Moe Productions

Dr. Maurice A. Lee followed a B.S. in Biology from South Carolina State University with a Pharm.D. from MUSC, thus becoming the first black male pharmacist from Eutawville, SC. During his successful pharmacy career, he founded the M. A. Lee Scholarship Fund awarding scholarships to students attending a four year college or university and, in 2016, the Dr. Maurice A. Lee Endowment at MUSC. Today, he is a mover and shaker in Hollywood, both as an actor and a producer! His social media feed is dotted with pictures of stars and red carpets. He has appeared in movies and other productions and, last year, he signed his first TV contract.
