Undaunted by the ocean and a global pandemic, the SCSHP award managed to reach winner Danielle Pett at long last.

Danielle Pett, who was chosen as the South Carolina Society of Health-System Pharmacists (SCSHP) 2020 Pharmacy Student of the Year, was finally united with her award last week.

When the award was announced at the SCSHP 2020 Annual Meeting March 12-13, she was on rotation in Hawaii. She came back to find Charleston and South Carolina in full social distancing mode as the community undertook the challenge to #flattenthecurve and minimize the potential devastation of the coronavirus and COVID-19.

Professor Kathy Chessman was able to get the overdue award into Danielle’s hands – and maintain social distancing! – by leaving it on her doorstep and then taking a picture of award and honoree united at last.
