Rashshana Blackwood ’21 won the MUSC Patient Counseling Competition for 2020-2021 and will represent the MUSC College of Pharmacy at the National Patient Counseling Competition in Spring 2021 at the American Pharmacists Association (APhA) Annual Meeting.

The national competition includes Academy of Student Pharmacists (APhA-ASP) chapters from all around the country.

Linh Hazard (2nd place) and Hillary Reeves (3rd place) turned in strong scores as runners up in the MUSC competition, which was converted to a virtual format with particular thanks cited to Amanda Everett and Sara Bruner.

The goal of the APhA-ASP National Patient Counseling Competition is to encourage student pharmacists to become better patient educators. The competition promotes professional development and reinforces the role of the pharmacist as a health care provider and educator.
