Terry Blackmon has served many leadership roles at the MUSC College of Pharmacy, including most recently as the chair of the Building the Future of Pharmacy campaign.

Upon retiring from the South Carolina Board of Pharmacy after 12 years of service, he was honored with a South Carolina Senate Resolution on May 1, 2024. He has served as president/owner of The Medicine Cabinet, an independent pharmacy located in Lake City, S.C., since 2013. He joined the pharmacy in 1986 and, in 2002, became co-owner with Dan Bushardt; when Bushardt retired in 2013, Blackmon became sole president/owner.

Daughter Erin Blackmon, who completed the MUSC pharmacy/Citadel concurrent Pharm.D./MBA program in 2010, began her career in chain retail pharmacies before joining Terry Blackmon at The Medicine Cabinet in 2017.

After the “Building the Future of Pharmacy… Together” campaign had become established, the MUSC College of Pharmacy administration turned to Terry Blackmon to tackle the formidable task of maintaining momentum through the end. He served as the second and concluding chair of the Building Leadership Committee.

He has served as president of multiple pharmacy associations, all while maintaining an independent pharmacy practice. Among other things, the resolution honors his decades of involvement in pharmacy on the local, state, and national levels. He has taken a special interest in the legislative aspects of pharmacy, and worked tirelessly to insure the success of independent pharmacy.

Terry Blackmon is also a member of the National Community Pharmacists Association, the American Pharmacists Association, a state luminary for the Community Pharmacy Enhanced Services Network, and a member and past president of the Medical University of South Carolina Pharmacy Alumni Association.

His impact on the pharmacy community has resulted in numerous accolades.  In 2017, he was the honored recipient of the Bowl of Hygeia for the state of South Carolina, the most widely recognized international symbol for the pharmacy profession and one of the profession's most prestigious awards.  In 2015, he was named Pharmacist of the Year by the South Carolina Pharmacy Association.
