MUSC pharmacists take to social media to celebrate National Pharmacy Week

National Pharmacy Week is October 20-26! The week recognizes the invaluable contributions pharmacists and technicians make to patient care in hospitals, outpatient clinics and other healthcare settings.

Madison Riley Protzman, recruiter at the MUSC College of Pharmacy, collected video greetings from a handful of members of the MUSC pharmacy family to help commemorate the observance. These greetings are scheduled to run each day of the week during National Pharmacy Week on the MUSC College of Pharmacy social media channels on Facebook, Instagram, and LinkedIn.

National Pharmacy Week and American Pharmacists Month both grew from the seed planted by North Carolina pharmacists Robert J. Ruth, who proposed a National Pharmaceutical Week at the 1924 annual meeting of the American Pharmaceutical Association (APhA). APhA eventually shifted to the month-long observance and National Pharmacy Week became the purview of the American Society of Health-system Pharmacists (ASHP), which has a toolkit of promotional materials for pharmacists to share.
