Steven Holshouser completed his Ph.D. in chemistry after studying under the late Patrick Woster, a faculty member in the Department of Drug Discovery and Biomedical Sciences at the MUSC College of Pharmacy.

Steven L. Holshouser, Ph.D., has a robust background in business development and drug discovery. He currently serves as the vice president of business development at Proteros.

As a recipient of the 2024 MUSC College of Graduate Studies Emerging Leader Award, Steven Holshouser is one of the honorees at MUSC's Alumni Awards Dinner January 30. As a graduate student, he studied under the late Patrick Woster, SmartState Endowed Chair in Drug Discovery and chair of the Department of Drug Discovery and Biomedical Sciences at the MUSC College of Pharmacy.

Before joining Proteros, Holshouser held the position of director of business development at Kiyatec Inc., where he led global preclinical strategies, managed client acquisition and developed partnership agreements with biopharma and academic institutions. He also worked as business development executive at Evotec and as chief scientific officer at Inquisatex Epitherapeutics, a startup company founded at MUSC.

He holds a Ph.D. in Chemistry from MUSC, specializing in clinical and industrial drug development, and a bachelor’s degree in biochemistry and chemistry from the College of Charleston.
