Outstanding individual achievement honored during 2025 Awards Ceremony and Hooding Convocation

Every student who walked across the stage was a high achiever.

Celebrated during the 2025 Awards Ceremony and Hooding Convocation at the Charleston Music Hall on May 16, 2025, the 65 members of the MUSC College of Pharmacy Class of 2025 can claim with pride they earned an MUSC pharmacy degree. It is quite an accomplishment.

A handful of students also received additional recognition for MUSC College of Pharmacy careers that were particularly outstanding in some fashion. The following students won individual awards:

  • Christine Buehner: The Excellence in Clinical Communication Award, which honors a graduate who has exhibited high academic achievement and superior verbal and written communication skills.
  • Kaylee Simon and Sarah Smith: The Merck Academic Excellence Awards, which are presented to two graduates who exhibit outstanding achievement in the study of pharmacy.
  • Regine Johnson and Jory Morgan: The Outstanding Community Service Award, which is presented to a graduate who has made significant contributions in the Charleston community through their community service activities.
  • Makenzie Boyd, Cameron Fox, and Supriti Samantaray: The inaugural Outstanding Grand Rounds Award, which recognizes graduates who excelled in their fourth-year Grand Rounds presentation.
  • Fatimah Al Doughan: The Outstanding Innovation Award, which is presented to a graduate who has contributed new, creative ideas and fostered innovation within the college and/or medical university.
  • Janie Cole: The Outstanding Interprofessionalism Award, which is presented to the graduate who has participated in and made significant contributions to interprofessional initiatives on the MUSC campus.
  • Ivy McLamb: The Outstanding Leadership Award, which is presented to a graduate who has demonstrated outstanding leadership qualities.
  • Noah Nussbaum and Riley Sumner: The Outstanding Pharmacy Practice Award, which is presented to a graduate who has demonstrated excellence in pharmacy practice throughout their advanced pharmacy practice experiences.
  • Zipporah Williams: The Outstanding Professionalism Award, which is presented to a graduate who has shown exemplary professional behavior, integrity, compassion, and respect.
  • Marin Vander Schaaf: The Outstanding Research Award, which recognizes a graduate who has performed exemplary research.
  • Haley King, Carly Mitchell, and Dunklin Yodice: The Outstanding Scholastic Achievement Awards, which are presented to the graduates who have demonstrated outstanding scholastic performance. These three honor graduates earned perfect 4.0 grade point averages in the didactic curriculum.
  • Cassidy Cross: The Outstanding Student Teaching Award, which is a new award presented to a graduate who has made significant and positive contributions towards the didactic learning experience of collegiate peers as a teaching assistant, supplemental instructor, or in other teaching capacities.
  • Madeline Frellick: The VIATRIS™ Excellence in Pharmacy Award, which honors a graduate in the top 25% of the class who demonstrates high professional motivation as well as superior proficiency in drug information services.
  • Audrey Doue and Victoria Isgett: The William A. Prout Award, which is presented to a graduate who has achieved a high scholastic average in pharmacy practice courses and has demonstrated excellence in pharmacy practice.
  • Kaylee Simon: The United States Public Health Service Excellence in Public Health Pharmacy Award, which recognizes demonstrated commitment to public health and the pharmacy profession.

Rho Chi is pharmacy’s academic honor society and several members of the Class of 2025 were inducted during their academic careers:
