New international travel health clinic puts the world in your hands by helping identify and secure vaccinations needed for travel.

The MUSC College of Pharmacy has launched an International Travel Health Clinic.

A collaboration between the college and MUSC Family Medicine, the clinic is housed at the Family Medicine Clinic on James Island. The clinic began accepting appointments on Thursday, July 31, 2025. Appointments can be requested through MyChart, the main appointment phone number, or through an Epic referral from your medical provider.

The travel health clinic care team will schedule qualified travelers at the Family Medicine Clinic on Thursdays from 12:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. in time slots of 30 or 60 minutes, depending on the traveler's need.

How the International Travel Health Clinic works

A traveler indicates their destination when making the appointment, at which point pharmacists Rosalind Chorak and Casey O'Quinn provide a consult to determine the country's vaccination requirements, advance administration requirements, and procure the vaccination. If a shot is required, the patient will get it at the appointment; if it is oral-based, they can pick it up at any pharmacy.

The pharmacist also offers health-based travel advice and appropriate over-the-counter treatments, such melatonin or anti-diarrheal medications.

The clinic will bill the traveler's health insurance as vaccines are usually covered. If the vaccine is not covered, patients can self-pay.

"The clinic is really more of a public service than a revenue stream, though it will provide revenue," said Shannon Condon, assistant dean for finance for the MUSC College of Pharmacy. "Being able to offer the service is one the advantages of having a successful retail pharmacy embedded in a primary care practice. It allows us to expand our services and give patients a highly-convenient location to take care of their travel vaccination needs."
