If they gave an award for best title of a presentation, surely it would have gone to Taylor Morrisette.

The infectious diseases expert, an assistant professor of clinical pharmacy and outcomes sciences at the MUSC College of Pharmacy, presented “A Bug’s Life: Antimicrobial Stewardship from Inpatient to Outpatient” at the American Pharmacists Association Annual Meeting & Expo, held March 22-25, 2024 in Orlando.

The breakout session on Sunday paired Morrisette with Kayla Antosz, lead antimicrobial stewardship pharmacist for the Antimicrobial Stewardship Collaborative of South Carolina and member of the pharmacy faculty at the University of South Carolina. They highlighted the kinds of strategies pharmacists can use in collaboration with the entire health care team to use antimicrobial stewardship to ensure continuity of care, particularly across practice settings.

If Pixar wanted to go in an unexpected direction for a sequel to their 1998 hit “A Bug’s Life,” maybe this is the way to do it. The presentation even has a great tagline tucked into the session description: “When pharmacists are around, it’s tough to be a bug!”

Morrisette also presented a poster at APhA 2024 with second-year MUSC pharmacy student Charlie Worrall: "Impact of a Clinical Pharmacist-Led Medication Adherence Program on Medication Adherence Performance, Chronic Disease Control Measures, and Cost Savings."
