David Shirley, Erin Weeda, and Jason Haney were each named 2020-2021 Teacher of the Year for the MUSC College of Pharmacy, announced today in a virtual ceremony. They were chosen by students in the first three years of the curriculum, each representing a class. The Overall Teacher of the Year was David Shirley.

The P1 class (Class of 2024) honored Shirley, the P2 class (Class of 2023) honored Weeda, and the P3 class (Class of 2022) honored Haney.

The fourth-year class – which is a year of experiential education rotating with preceptors at their sites – selects a Preceptor of the Year in a separate ceremony.

“This ceremony resonates a lot with us,” said Philip D. Hall, dean of the MUSC College of Pharmacy. “It recognizes faculty members who have found a special connection with a class. That kind of connection lies at the heart of our education mission, and it is a recognition that means a lot to our faculty. All three recipients are outstanding teachers well-deserving of the honor.”
