The MUSC Experiential Affairs Office is celebrating preceptors during American Pharmacists Month by distributing "Proud Preceptor" magnets.

The statewide promotion is for all members of the Palmetto Experiential Education Partnership (PEEP), a collaborative experiential education program between the MUSC College of Pharmacy and the University of South Carolina College of Pharmacy.

“Being an MUSC pharmacy preceptor is significant in both its commitment and accomplishment,” said Elizabeth Weed, director of experiential education for the MUSC College of Pharmacy. “The magnet is a token of appreciation for their hard work and dedication to students and the future of the pharmacy profession.”

PEEP recently announced the student-nominated Preceptor of the Year awards, highlighting some of the exceptional practitioners of the precepting discipline.

Preceptors are a significant part of a pharmacy education. Students go on rotations with preceptors for introductory pharmacy practice experiences after each of their first two years, and the entire fourth year is a sequence of advanced pharmacy practice experiences. Graduates often cite a specific rotation and preceptor as the experience in which where they found their passion.

The MUSC magnets will be sent to the U.S. address the preceptor has in Core. Address updates can be made by logging into Core, clicking on My Account, making changes, and clicking Update Information. Current preceptors can also request address changes by filling out a form for the Experiential Office to take care of it.
