MUSC made a clean sweep of the South Carolina Society of Health-System Pharmacists (SCSHP) Clinical Skills Championship, held during the SCSHP 2023 Fall Meeting on Tuesday in Columbia, S.C.

Jenny Smith and Sam Brace finished in first place overall for MUSC, while Madeline Frellick and Carly Mitchell took second place.

"They represented MUSC extremely well with their very professional and knowledgeable case presentations and answers to the judges’ questions," said coach Kathy Chessman, chair of the Department of Clinical Pharmacy and Outcomes Sciences.

Smith and Brace will be representing the College of Pharmacy at the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists (ASHP) National Clinical Skills Competition held at the ASHP Midyear Clinical Meeting and Exhibition in Anaheim December 2-3, 2023.

MUSC students have won the national competition twice: Julie Long and Karen Hembree Spry (2006) and Aubrey Cartwright and Kelli Davis (2001).
