MUSC students, chapter garner awards at 2021 SCSHP Annual Meeting

Three MUSC students picked up scholarships and the MUSC chapter of the Student Society of Health-System Pharmacists (SSHP) won the Outstanding Chapter Award at the South Carolina Society of Health-System Pharmacists (SCSHP) 2021 Annual Meeting, held March 3 via Zoom.

SSHP chapter president Drew Sauck and faculty advisor Kathy Chessman represented the chapter in being recognized during the virtual ceremony. Sauck retook the stage a few minutes later, as she was awarded a scholarship along with Sara Bruner and Harriet McGowan. MUSC students were awarded three of the four available scholarships, pictured below.

The ceremony also honored outgoing members of the SCSHP Junior Board, which included Bruner, and welcomed new members including MUSC students Linh Hazard and Sauck.

Other MUSC connections to this year's annual meeting include the end of term for SCSHP president Jason Mills, who teaches an MUSC management course in the P3 year, and faculty member Jason Haney, who serves as SCSHP’s Region V director. The College and MUSC Health had several speakers at the annual meeting as well, including Krutika Mediwala, Megan Pruitt, and Elizabeth Weed.
