On April 10, the Class of 2022 united in person for a moment of community as they capped their didactic studies with the first-ever Pinning Ceremony held by the MUSC College of Pharmacy.

The Pinning Ceremony marks a significant transition in the life of a student pharmacist. After three years of learning focused primarily in labs and classrooms, fourth-year students embark on a curriculum of experiential education. Members of the Class of 2022 have spent many hours together as a group and soon will head off into different directions to do rotations with preceptors around the state, the country, and the world.

This year’s transition is particularly poignant after more than a year of remote classes. By having the Pinning Ceremony – an in-person event following all proper COVID-19 safety protocols – the Class of 2022 could celebrate a moment of unity.

The class gathered at Trident Technical College for the program, which featured remarks from class president Coleman Parler and faculty members Marc Lapointe and Yuri Peterson, the presentation of pins, the Pledge of Professionalism, and it concluded with a class slide show.
