The Class of 2025 has officially joined the MUSC College of Pharmacy. After a week of orientation activities gave them a chance to knit together, the newest representatives of the MUSC pharmacy tradition have taken the oath, donned their first white coats, and celebrated with their families at the 2021 White Coat Ceremony.

Next week, the work begins.

The White Coat Ceremony was held August 12 in the Drug Discovery Building (DDB) on the Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC) campus. The DDB has already become a familiar site to members of the Class of 2025; many orientation activities were held in the James E. Clyburn Research Center, which is comprised of the DDB and the Bioengineering Building (BEB).

Clyburn Center houses a number of pharmacy faculty offices and laboratories as well classroom space. However, as they entered the building for the White Coat Ceremony, the new students and their families could see off to the right the rapidly-arising new pharmacy facility which the students will call home starting in the fall of next year.

The Class of 2025 was welcomed to MUSC with a keynote address by 2021 MUSC Distinguished Alumna Award winner Lori Dickerson ’93, one of the industry’s most respected and influential voices in the last three decades. Following the signing of the Code of Ethics, the students were presented with the white coats; the coats were sponsored by the MUSC Alumni Association.
