Dean Philip Hall was one of the luminaries on hand when Governor Henry McMaster held a ceremonial signing of the proclamation making October 2023 officially Pharmacists Month in the state of South Carolina.

A who's who of South Carolina pharmacists gathered to celebrate the proclamation at the ceremony in Columbia on Oct. 11, 2023. Pictured above, from left to right, are Giuseppe Gumina, dean of the Presbyterian College School of Pharmacy; Philip Hall, dean of the MUSC College of Pharmacy; Annie Wilson of Capitol Consultants; Cheryl Anderson, president of the South Carolina Pharmacy Association (SCPhA); Henry McMaster, governor of South Carolina; Brian Clark, MUSC pharmacy alumnus and CEO of SCPhA; Steve Cutler, dean of the University of South Carolina College of Pharmacy; and Kayce Shealy, president-elect of SCPhA.

The proclamation came about through the diligent efforts of many at the SCPhA. The SCPhA's parent organization, the American Pharmacy Association (APhA), first established American Pharmacists Month in 2004 but its history dates back nearly a century to an October, 1925, when a nation-wide network of radio stations aired programming celebrating the contributions of pharmacists.
