MUSC chapters of student organizations netted several national honors in recent weeks:

  • The Alpha Iota Chapter of Rho Chi, the national pharmacy honor society, was given the 2024 Chapter Achievement Award. Given by Rho Chi's national office, this honor is the third national recognition the chapter has received in the last year, following the 2022-2023 Chapter Achievement Award and the 2023 Summer Rho Chi Chapter Project Proposal Award
  • The MUSC chapter of the Student Society of Health-system Pharmacy (SSHP) received the Outstanding Professional Development Award from the American Society of Health-system Pharmacists (ASHP). The award, which only 20 programs in the country received, recognized a chapter project from last year -- "Preparing to be Financially Fit." The project included a seminar and a book club to provide students with tools and strategies to enter pharmacy practice with financial freedom and independence.
  • MUSC pharmacy students were half the slate of the 2023-2024 elected officers for pharmacy leadership society, Phi Lambda Sigma. Four officers were elected and two of them were MUSC’s Janie Cole and Madeline Frellick. Cole was elected member-at-large, along with Christina Kim, while Frellick was elected speaker of the house. The president-elect is Hoai-An Truong. The elections took place during the PLS 49th House of Delegates meeting, which was via Zoom on April 13, 2024.
