Ashley Prentice ’20 will begin her career armed with a Pharm.D. from MUSC and an MBA from The Citadel, thanks in part to an endowed scholarship established this year by John and Louise Cormier. The John and Louise Cormier Pharm.D./MBA Endowed Scholarship is one of six endowed scholarships established this year and one of 14 established since 2014.

“I am honored to receive a scholarship in Dr. and Mrs. Cormier’s name,” she said. John Cormier served as dean of the MUSC College of Pharmacy from 1999 to 2004, and Louise Cormier worked for many years in the College of Health Professions and Department of Physiology. “It has allowed me to become a more well-rounded pharmacy student while also completing the MBA program at The Citadel.”

Prentice is the kind of student leader – and future success story – that the scholarship is designed to help.

“At MUSC, I have enjoyed being a student ambassador, participating in the supplemental instruction program, and serving on the Rho Chi Honor Society executive board,” she said. “Ultimately, the dual-degree program will enhance the opportunities available to me as a future pharmacist.”

The John and Louise Cormier Pharm.D./MBA Endowed Scholarship was established in honor of Dean Cormier when he retired in June 2004. It has supported students annually for more than a decade. The Cormiers have committed to continue this annual support until the endowment is fully funded. The scholarship specifically helps deserving MUSC College of Pharmacy students who are successfully enrolled in the Pharm.D./MBA program.
