Prepharm programs still a go

 “Well, so much for spring.” -- every student in America

Graduate school. College. High School. It doesn’t matter where they are in school, students have had to distance themselves from campuses and classmates this spring. As the semester comes to an end, anxious eyes have turned to the summer. Travel, internships, jobs… many things have been cancelled. 

The MUSC College of Pharmacy announced today that prospective students should keep their plans to attend its summer programs, which will be held as scheduled. 

“We’ll make adjustments as needed to ensure we can offer an effective curriculum in a safe environment,” said Jenny Bagg, admissions manager. “These programs are an important resource for students who have to make big decisions now. You can’t wait for the pandemic to end when you’re planning for a post-pandemic future.”

The summer programs for prospective students include:

MUSC PREP – Friday, July 10

The Pharmacy Readiness Engagement Program (PREP) is designed to prepare rising and current college students for a career path in pharmacy. It offers an overview of pharmacy, tips on getting into pharmacy school, and experience with the admission process. The program is free of charge but space is limited; application deadline is Monday, June 29

MUSC PharmDamentals – Friday, July 31

The PharmDaMentals program is specifically designed to engage high school students interested in STEM or healthcare careers and provide a fundamental understanding of the specifically designed to engage high school students interested in STEM or healthcare careers and provide a fundamental understanding of the pharmacy profession. MUSC PharmDamental participants discover more about the wide range of career opportunities a pharmacy degree can enable and interact with faculty and students. The program is free of charge but space is limited; registration closes July 17

“We will make every effort to hold them in person and, if we can’t, we’ll adapt them to an online version that will provide a similar virtual experience,” Bagg said.
